  MOBERLY MONITOR-INDEX AND EVENING DEMOCRAT Moberly, Randolph County, MO Thursday, June 24, 1993 -- page 1, column 1 Moberly Couple Killed Wreck Takes Lives Of Orville And Dorothy Colley ODESSA--A Moberly husband and wife were killed and their son and two grandchildren seriously injured late Wednesday night in the collision of a van and a tanker-trailer truck on Interstate 70 near Odessa. The driver of the van, Orville Colley, 78, of Moberly, was fatally injured and died at Research Hospital in Kansas City, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. His wife, Dorothy Colley, 71, was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured, the patrol said, were Colley's son, Kevin Colley, 26, also of Moberly, his daughter, Melissa Colley, 12, and a niece of Kevin Colley's, Shannon Colley, 4, of Moberly, Kevin Colley was flown to Independence Regional Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition at last report. Melissa and Shannan were transported by air ambulance to Childrens Mercy Hospital, where they were listed in serious coundition [sic], but are expected to recover, according to a local source. The truck driver was not hurt. The accident occurred 6.6 miles east of the Jackson County line around 8 p.m., the patrol said, when the Colley vehicle attempted to move into the left lane and collided with the right front corner of the tanker-trailer. Colley's vehicle slid into the median and overturned, the patrol said. Three of the occupants were ejected. The bodies of Orville and Dorothy Colley are being returned to Cater Funeral Home in Moberly. Arrangements are pending.
